Real Worlds - Reflective Statement
Reflective Statement
Overall, I think this is the project I enjoyed the most this year. The feedback I got from Mantic Games especially on the Nightstalker really helped me to improve my design skills. I didn't do a lot of studies for my enforcer aside from basic anatomy and weapon designs. To improve on them I think it'd beneficial to do some research into armour and how to render them. This would definitely have helped when it came to the key art. The character key arts could've been better. I think I let myself get a bit too sloppy especially when it came to the enforcer. The way I drew the perspective was a little strange and I think I should've spent more time refining the initial sketch. My project management for the first part of this project was also pretty bad. I got very behind and I had to spend my easter break catching up. Doing this however, put me in a good position for the next part of the project. I didn't let myself fall behind in this part of the project so I feel much stress at all. This is probably why I enjoyed it the most as I was able to go at my own pace. I found it fun researching level design and I got to explore a genre I like! I'm quite proud of the designs and art I produced for this part. I think the main downside for the environment side was that I didn't explore crucial elements in the game. A save point would've been an amazing piece of 'street furniture' I could've added to the game. It would've been fun to experiment with different ways to make the player save. Similarly, I could've designed a method of healing that would link to my earlier mention of wanting to include side effects to getting injured. I plan to explore this in a future project.
