Industry Practice - The Games Market, Diversity and Equality (15/11/24)
What is the market current looking at especially areas we are considering?
In this lesson. we were task to look into the most recent data analyses in the UK games industry. In my research, I focussed on certain elements relating to how and where we plan to publish our game. I have listed these below:
- Platform = PC
- Ich.io
- Genre = Interactive Fiction/ Visual Novel
- Diversity
- Age Range - Teens/ Young Adult (14+)
Itch.io
We plan to post our game on Itch.io. With this in mind, I decided to look at what genre is the most popular on this site.
What can be done to advocate for ourselves and support our peers and colleagues
To be able to advocate for our peers and colleagues. It will beneficial to do a lot of research into the topics. Since our game is focused on mental struggles, we should a lot of research into these struggles so we don't misrepresent anything. To further help, we could provide links and discussions to sites or charities that offer good mental health advice. We plan to implement a trigger warning to protect players from certain topics that could harm them.
