2D Toolkit - Photobashing and Value Paints (15/11/24)

In todays lesson, we were tasked to use our own photos to make a photo bashed image. I decided to use some old photos I took in 2018 of war memorials, trenches and craters.

Photo Bashing Process

First, I looked through my gallery and picked 4 images to use. I put them into photoshop and used the select tool to edit out the parts I didn't need in each image.

I then used the select tool to select the stairs and widened them to cover the entire canvas.

I then went into Image > Adjustments > Black & White to turn each layer into black and white. I also used Image > Adjustments > Levels to make the images close to the front darker and the images further back lighter.

I then opened up a new canvas to create the colours I was going to use for my value paints. The darkest light colour should still be lighter than the lightest mid tone.

I then used these colours to create a basic value paint and here is the finished photo bashed image below.
