Industry Practice - Presentation (25/10/24)

In this lesson, we presented our pitch presentation. During the presentation, we discovered that one of our slides had gone missing and we weren't sure why. We made sure to send Rachel a working link with the missing slide included.

Reflection on your role in the pitch presentation

In our pitch presentation, I feel as me and my team successfully spread the work out so we all had a equal part in its creation. We each allocated one slide per person and did the rest all together during the meeting discussing this. I was put in charge of the legal considerations slide. Unfortunately, compared to my peers I felt like my slide was lacking. It didn't have as much information on it but this was mainly due to this area being the one we've talked about the least. As a result of this, I made a few assumptions and tried to keep it brief. I posted the slide in our group discord and got feedback from some of my teammates who seemed happy with it.

I was also responsible for the slide detailing information about my patient. I had prioritised other projects prior to the presentation so I hadn't produced a lot of concepts for my character. I also found it extremely difficult to motivate myself to do these concepts but once I got into it I found I was enjoying myself. Though I didn't produce as many concepts as I would've liked to, I managed to get a much better grasp on my characters appearance! I plan to get feedback from my teammates so I can make more refined concepts after the Christmas break.

I made sure that all the references I used were referenced accurately and I had added them into the bibliography. I was also responsible for some of the in text references on slides that my teammates did. In the meeting before we had just before the presentation, I made sure that everyone had added their references to the bibliography.

Overall, I felt like I contributed a fair amount to the presentation even if it was less that I'd liked. I need to remember that this was only a pitch presentation and not everything included here needs to make it into the final project. I made sure to keep to the deadline we decided on as a group and completed it early so I could leave myself time to get feedback on my contributions and ensure my teammates were happy with the slides.

Reflection on stakeholder feedback

After the presentation, we were asked a few questions to consider over the course of this project. One of the main question was how we will fit this all in 5 - 10 minutes. As a team, we discussed that we won't be penalised for going over the time limit. This means that if we need more time we have all agreed to put in the extra work so our game doesn't feel weirdly paced or rushed. We have also discuss possible getting rid of some asset ideas and have talked about simplifying our future script slightly.

The other questions that were asked, was will the monsters have human forms and how will it work? Originally, we planned to make it so the monster did have human forms and that over the course of the game, the monsters will begin to appear more human. To simplify our assets we talked about maybe abandoning the human forms idea and perhaps only include them in the final splash art at the end of the game. This is still a topic we need to discuss in more detail though.

Moving forward, we will continuously update our final assets list and make sure that we are all comfortable that we can achieve this.  We will also draft out our script over the Christmas break. We have discussed setting a limit to the questions so we spend an equal amount of time on each patients story. So far we've discussed having 2 - 3 questions but this could change.
