Industry Practice - Pitch Presentation Preparation (18/10/24)

In this session, we discussed what is expected in our formative assessment. We are to create our own power point presentation discussing our ideas for the visual novel so far. Below is what we are expected to include in our presentation as well as some discussion I had with my team.

Our pitch must cover a range of topics:

  • Studios response to stakeholder demands (the brief).
  • Unique selling point of your proposed product.
  • Proposed genre and target market.
  • Reference and comparisons to commercially available professional work.
  • Impact of identified art and design benchmark on development of your original intellectual property.
  • Technical and durable skills required for individual job roles.
Presentation

We should design our pitch to reflect the visual style and branding of our proposed game.

  • Include colours, fonts and any concept art we've identified to support our pitch.
  • Ensure our pitch is accessible and easy to read.
  • Include original brandmark or logo for our studio, or game.

Our presentation should include

  • An introduction - who is on the team and their roles
  • Platform(s) for the game
  • The Genre
  • Narrative summary and key features
  • Market analysis
  • Technical requirements/ considerations
  • Legal considerations
  • Concept art and assets
  • Bibliography

Presentation Discussion

We discussed the presentation in detail and decided to split the workload between us. We also discussed the expectations in terms of work we should have prepared for the presentation.

During today's session, we as a team completed the slides for the introduction, module learning outcomes and the narrative summary and key features. We focused on these slides as we felt these were the ones that required the most discussion and it would be super beneficial to complete them now whilst we are all together.

Here is a snippet of our narrative summary and key features.

For the other slides, we discussed having a slide focussing on each patient that included their details, story as well as some of the concept art we've done for that character and their environment. We decided that each individual can do their own slide for their assigned patient.

In relation to the other sides, we split the workload between us. We assigned each remaining slide to a member of our team to complete. Below is what slide each of us are doing;

  • Platform(s) - Faye
  • Genre - Katie
  • Market Analysis - Jake
  • Technical requirements/ considerations - Sam
  • Legal considerations - Me

We have discussed sending screenshots of the finished slides in the discord to make sure the rest of the team is ok with that slide.
