Building Alliances - Discussing Moodboards and Characters (08/10/24)
Discussion
Environment
In this meeting, we took in it turns to discuss the mood boards we made on the general aesthetics as well as the mood boards we created for the environments assigned to us. You can find my environment mood boards here.
Out of the 2 ideas I discussed, my team favoured the idea of microplastic storm over the toxic bubble. They felt that it would fit with the plot better and we could have it where the player has to defeat an enemy to obtain a material that is used to craft armour that can withstand the storm. They also liked the idea of including natural disasters such as a hurricane with shards of microplastics orbiting it to really get across that this is dangerous and you shouldn't enter without proper protection.
Characters
I was conscious that we hadn't really discuss the characters aside from wanting a design for the main character and the end game boss. Holly was the only individual who had a character assigned to them which was the merchant. I used this meeting to discuss what kind of characters we wanted to create. I also used this as an opportunity to discuss with my teammates on who was most comfortable with what character. We then made sure everyone was assigned a character that they were happy with. Here's the decision we made;
- Companion - Evie
- Merchant - Holly
- Mini boss - Me
- Protagonist - Nathan
- Final Boss - Sasha
Miro Board
This meeting, we started utilising the Miro board our director (Sasha) created. We colour coded the board to make it easier which member of the team set what kind of work. This also helps us develop a schedule and discuss deadlines for certain tasks so we can accomplish everything we plan to do for this project.
