2D Toolkit - Anatomy and Musculature (25/10/24)
In this lesson, we recapped on the anatomy and musculature of a human figure. We started off by drawing an anatomical diagram that's approximately 7/8 heads tall (average height).
Afterwards, we were tasked to draw muscles from memory. This didn't go particularly well for me as I couldn't remember a lot about the muscles especially when it came to the legs. I annotated my attempt with what I did wrong and this helped to point out which areas are my weakest.
I then looked up various diagrams of the human muscles to then go back to my anatomical diagram and correct my mistakes.
We were then tasked with applying our knowledge to real life references. In this task, we looked up athletes who had visible muscles and we then drew them. In some images, I grab some anatomical diagrams to guess where the muscles would be if they were hidden by an item of clothing.

Reflection
Overall, I still think I need a lot more practice when it comes to drawing muscles but this lesson has definitely helped improve my understanding. I hope to design a character who's meant to be strong and apply the knowledge I've learnt here and use references of athletes with a similar build to improve my artwork.
