Building Alliances - I.D.I.O.T. Studio (26/09/24)

I.D.I.O.T. Studio

In this session, we were assigned groups to work in for our group project. The members of my team include me, Evie, Holly, Nathan and Sasha. We used this session to get acquainted with each other and discuss our strengths as well as weaknesses. We decided to name ourselves I.D.I.O.T Studios and are currently discussing our logo design. An idea of a logo included a brain with a face but we are still deciding on the finer details. 

After deciding on our name, we had an in depth discussion on what everyone was comfortable doing and what our preferred roles in this team would be. These are the job roles each member was assigned:

  • Sasha - Director
  • Evie - Researcher
  • Nathan - Lead Environment Artist
  • Holly - Lead 3D Artist
  • Me - Lead 2D Artist

We briefly discussed the brief that we were each most comfortable with doing however, we have yet to make a decision. We instead moved on to create a OneDrive to share resources and made both a discord and teams server so we can communicate with each other easily. We drafted up some legal documents between us and these documents included an NDA, Contract of Engagement and environmental statement. As a team, we split this work load between us with help from our director who checked up on our progress. 

I was tasked with the creation of the contract of engagement. I wasn't entirely sure what the contract consisted of so I spent some time researching and looking up previous contract of engagement examples. Once I was comfortable, I created a draft and checked with my team members if they were happy with what I produced. We then signed the document and we repeated this step with the NDA and environmental statement.

Real Worlds - Enforcer Key Illustration Process

Enforcer Sketch I started off by copying and pasting the thumbnail I chose onto a separate canvas. I then drew out a box in an attempt to fix drawing so it made more sense for the perspective it was in. I then did a sketch over it to add in the enforcer's features and armour. Lighting Pass Since my chosen genre is survival horror, I wanted my enforcer to look quite terrified and have lighting to reflect that mood. I decided to use a flashlight that had been dropped on the floor to illuminate my enforcer. Here is the basic sketch over on how I'd think it'd look. Toolkit - Gantt Chart and Kanban

Gantt Chart This is the plan I made for 3D over my easter break. I had unfortunately spent too much time focusing on other projects and not enough time on this one. I should've made sure I had more time on this project especially because 3D is one of my weaker areas. Here is the Gantt Chart I made for Toolkit. Gantt Chart Updated/ Revised (10/05/25) I was able to keep up with gantt chart up until week 4. I greatly overestimated how long the sculpting process would take and ended spending the week just on that. Luckily, I had just finished one of my other projects so for the final week I was able to put most of my focus onto this project. 3D Toolkit - Renders, Turntable and Unreal Implementation

Turntable Here is a link to my turntable on Sketchfab:  https://skfb.ly/pxnUY Unfortunately, the texture for the mask on the belt just wouldn't work. It wasn't assigning correctly onto the model despite being completely fine in both Maya and Unreal. I was unable to resolve this issue so I left it with a basic white colour. Renders For some reason, during my renders, the textures broke and I wasn't entirely sure how to fix it. I think it might've been to do with the materials of my assets. I tried changing them but it broke the textures even more.  Unreal Implementation I implemented my character into unreal to see how they looked. They had been scaled a little too big, so in Maya I went back and made them smaller.
